Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known for playing the role of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received an Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is known as the character Detective Diane Russell on the ABC series NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the only daughter of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a housewife. Her childhood was spent in a home that included four brothers. As a young girl, she wanted to work as a reporter in the courtroom. However, in high school, when she started modeling commercials, she moved to New York. The role she was given was that of a child's innocence in the soap opera All My Children. Delaney an actress in her early years in the 80s, has been featured in numerous TV shows as well as dramas. Like her career however, her private life has not been a success or happy one. There were two divorces that failed and fought with alcoholism. In 2005, the actress lost custody over her only son.
